Comfort and sustainability are two aspects that are increasingly linked. In Real de La Quinta's projects, they are also a priority. The use of the right materials and techniques in the cladding and enclosures of the home is essential to obtain optimum insulation results. 

No cold at home: well-insulated and efficient homes 

Ensuring a constant indoor temperature is one of the most important energy efficiency challenges. Winter weather conditions may require extra resource consumption to maintain a comfortable indoor climate, but there are effective ways to achieve great results in a sustainable way. Choosing the right building elements and solutions will help to control heat transfer and create more pleasant spaces with fewer resources. 

How to winterproof your house from the cold? Solutions are usually approached from two perspectives: 

• Exterior carpentry and enclosures 

Doors and windows are some of the most vulnerable points when it comes to insulating a home from the cold. In this sense, the most efficient solutions to achieve thermal comfort while minimising energy consumption include the incorporation of double-glazed windows and laminated glass, air chambers (such as 90 % argon) and polyamide or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) profiles. 

• Facades and cladding 

Continuous, waterproofed external cladding with polymer concrete parts allows walls to be insulated from the cold with great efficiency. Bare rock wool panels are often used for interior partition walls, while chamber and polyurethane foam infill techniques are more common for façades. Both solutions offer excellent results in blocking noise and temperature transfer (acoustic and thermal insulation). 

The choice of these materials for optimal insulation does not have to compromise the aesthetics of the design. Not surprisingly, they are increasingly used in high-end housing because of their perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality and sustainability.
