9th World Ham Competition in Estepona
For the ninth consecutive year, the town of Estepona in Malaga will become the meeting point for the main ham-producing companies. From 8 to 15 August, the Paseo Marítimo will be filled with exhibitors and professional ham cutters to present the best Iberian products in an event that will not lack the region's flavours and music.
A classic in Estepona's summer
The Certamen Mundial del Jamón ‘Popi’ Ciudad de Estepona is one of the most popular gastronomic events of the summer in the province and is classified as an ‘Event of Tourist Interest in Andalusia’. More than half a million people attended the previous edition of this event, and forecasts indicate that this figure could be exceeded this year.
Summer, beach, music and Iberian ham are a great combination of factors to start the month of August with a good taste in your mouth. The communicator, Eva Ruiz, will once again be the godmother of the event and the person in charge of inaugurating an event that, for yet another year, will be accompanied by demonstrations and tastings in a festive and lively atmosphere.
Much more than ham
If the Paseo Marítimo is one of the busiest areas of Estepona during the summer, the Certamen Mundial del Jamón gives it even more prominence. Over fifty exhibitors and around 200 professional ham cutters participate in this popular gastronomic event. Every day, between 19:00 and 2:00, visitors will have the chance to explore new flavours and brands of ham and taste other key products to savour better a good Iberian ham, such as Malaga wines and artisan bread.
Between tasting and tasting, those attending the IX Certamen Mundial del Jamón ‘Popi’ Ciudad de Estepona can also enjoy live music. The event's programme includes free concerts every day from 23:30 onwards, adding a musical touch to an event full of flavour.
