The recent discovery of an injured European nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) in Real de La Quinta, found by a group of cyclists that were exploring our natural routes, has given us a unique experience that we want to share with all of you.

Ana Zamora, one of our best employees in the technical department, with a great sensitivity towards animals, came across the cyclists with the injured bird and immediately took charge of it, taking it to our offices, where we provided the bird with water and placed it in a box.

La Quinta, as a responsible and environmentally conscious company, we have taken immediate measures to ensure the bird’s recovery and notified the competent authorities, SEPRONA, to guarantee its proper recovery and release.

In the afternoon, the SEPRONA agents arrived at our office to pick up the European nightjar, so it could receive the veterinary care and attention needed. Now, we are eager to learn how its recovery progresses, hoping to see it back in its natural habitat, flying freely through the areas we care for deeply.

The European nightjar is a nocturnal bird

The European nightjar is a nocturnal bird that is not globally threatened but plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem. Its diet based of flying insects helps control their population, which benefits the natural environment of Real de La Quinta. It is remarkable its camouflage that allows it to blend in with its surroundings, remaining unnoticed during the day and becoming active at dusk to hunt.

Although this highlights the diversity of our local fauna, it also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the protection of the natural environment. This incident demonstrates the importance of protecting biodiversity in our natural spaces and respecting wildlife. It also emphasizes the vulnerability of the ecosystem and its balance, where each species is essential to the environment.
